Grandview R-II High School

New Chapter...

February 19, 2011
Dear Grandview Families,

I have accepted a new position as an Assistant Superintendent of schools for the Knob Noster School District.  I'd like to thank all of the people who have been supportive to me and my family over the past four years.  I'd also like to thank this year's senior class for making my time at Grandview so successfull.

In the past four years, we have seen the following increases; graduation rate, attendance, ACT, college placement, college readiness, advanced courses and most importantly we were Accredited with Distinction for the first time in 10 years!  These are terrific accomplishments that are a direct result of the hard working and dedicated staff in the high school.

With a new principal taking the helm next year, I would ask a favor of you all, please give them the support they need to take the work that we have done and propel Grandview even farther in its improvement.  Being a principal is extremely difficult.  No decision is welcomed by all, every decision is questioned and scrutinized, but at the end of the day it is more important to better the education and achievement of students than it is to try and please everyone.

We are leaving behind some great friends and fond memories.  I wish each and every one of you the very best in all that you do.

Yours in education,

Jaret W. Tomlinson

Snow seems to make me Blog....

January 20, 2011
Dear Grandview families:

It's been some time since I've updated this page so today seemed like the pefect time to do so.  The snow came as we all thought and the family and I are staying home in the warmth and comfort of the home.  We trust each of you are too.

I read a really nice artcle on STL Today's webpage about Grandview yesterday.
http://www.stltoday.com/suburban-journals/metro/education/article_44148ef7-b2d5-545d-9f43-57a097721035.html

The article discusses the movement away from textbooks and print media to a digital format.  This is a pretty exciting project for me and it certainly challenges everyone to try and learn something new.

Hopefully the snow will let up and we will be back in classes sometime soon.

Sincerely,

Jaret Tomlinson
